In France, they have decided to stop high school students from using their phones.

This is the proposal coming from the French Minister of Education, Élisabeth Borne, which states that students aged 11 to 15 will be strictly prohibited from using mobile phones, forcing them to lock these devices in a special locker, and to retrieve them again after the end of class.

The idea, which will be implemented starting in September, is intended to distance these young people from excessive access to social networks and to focus fully on regular attendance at classes.

"Such a measure is seen as essential to preserve the well-being and guarantee the success of our children at school," says French Minister Borne.

France previously implemented the same proposal in 2018, for college students, disconnecting them from their smartphones. The only difference was that these children could turn off their phones and keep them in their bags to continue with the learning process, while this time a stricter tightening of measures is foreseen to further distance students from these devices.

The government stated that if it is necessary to intervene more so that children are more focused on their studies, they will follow this proposal with great interest.

Cell phones are currently completely banned in France only in primary schools, while in the coming months, this ban will be massively expanded to secondary schools.

Minister Borne also said that this idea was also supported by parents and teachers who are demanding more care in treating students, to keep them as far away from social networks as possible, which become a distraction.
