The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has emphasized the importance of continuing reforms and respecting international agreements by North Macedonia as key steps for the country's full integration into the European Union.
Her comments come at a time when the newly elected president of North Macedonia, Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, took office without mentioning the constitutional name in her oath, causing reactions on the political scene.
Von der Leyen noted that to ensure a successful path to EU membership, North Macedonia must demonstrate full commitment to internal reforms and respect its agreements, including the historic Prespa Agreement. This stance comes as a reminder for the country to remain committed to common European objectives and maintain its reform course for the future.
"For North Macedonia to continue its successful path to EU membership, it is essential that the country continues on the path of reforms and full compliance with its binding agreements, including the Prespa Agreement," wrote Ursula von der Leyen.
