Upset about missing targets or a cabinet refresh?
This is still not clear, but the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, has decided to dismiss the Minister of Defense, Sergei Shoigu, who started the war in Ukraine about 2 years and 3 months ago.
The 68-year-old has been in the role since 2012 and will be appointed head of Russia's Security Council.
Sources from the upper house of the Russian parliament said that Shoigu will be replaced by Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov.
Also, the same sources confirm that it is Putin's own wish that Shoigu take over from Nikolai Patrushev in the security council.
