Skopje: VMRO and THE VALID agree on the "main pillars" of the new

VMRO DPMNE and the Albanian opposition coalition, WORTH, said they had reached agreement on "key pillars" during a meeting on Saturday to form North Macedonia's new government.

In a press release after the meeting in Skopje, the two parties announced that the meeting between the party leaders lasted about three and that they have been agreeing on the general principles of cooperation.

"European integration, economic development, rule of law and the fight against crime and corruption will be the main pillars of the new government's work," reads the joint press release after the meeting held between the delegation of VMRO DPMNE, led by Hristijan Mickoski, and the heads of the COALITION OF THE VALID, Arben Taravari, Izet Mexhiti, Bilall Kasami and Afrim Gashi.

The leaders of the two political camps said that from next week, talks will continue between working groups "on all issues until the finalization of the co-governance talks."

VMRO DPMNE won the parliamentary elections on May 8 and will have 58 MPs out of 120 in the Parliament of North Macedonia.

The Albanian opposition coalition WORTH managed to win 13 seats in parliament and its leaders said they "are the legitimate representatives of Albanians in the next government."

Mickoski is expected to receive the mandate after the inauguration of the new president of the country, Gordana Silanovska Davkova, the mandate to form a new government cabinet.

Meanwhile, the European Front, which is led by the so far-ruling Democratic Union for Integration (DUI), claims to be the legitimate representative of albanians, having won 19 seats in parliament in the May 8th elections. The coalition was also part of the Turkish, Roma and Bosniak parties.

DUI Chairman Ali Ahmet said saturday at a meeting of the European Front in Skopje that Albanian parties must respect a document, which according to him, has been signed by all parties that "the condition for participation in the new government will be the adoption of constitutional changes in order to continue the country's EU membership process".

"We, the political parties signed below, given the situation in which the country is located, feel the obligation that we are determined now and in the future to cooperate and co-govern only with those political parties that agree to support constitutional changes for the integration of the country into the EU" said Ahmeti, presenting the document of the Albanian parties. /Rel
