The Ukrainian pilot, also known as the Ghost of Kiev, lost his life last month in an air battle.

He allegedly shot down more than 40 Russian planes.

Major Stepan Tarabalka, 29, the father of a child, was killed when the MiG-29 he was flying crashed on March 13 while fighting the "big" enemy forces, according to local reports.

So far his death has not been confirmed, while The Times has confirmed today that the pilot lost his life in that battle, from sources inside Ukraine.

They said his helmet and glasses are expected to go on sale soon at an auction in London, though they did not provide further details.
