US President Donald Trump has just responded to the overnight attacks in Kiev, saying he is "not happy" and calling them "unnecessary" and at a very inopportune time.
"I am not happy with the Russian attacks on Kiev. They are not necessary, and the timing is very inconvenient. Vladimir, STOP! 5,000 soldiers a week die. Let's finish the Peace Agreement," Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
At least nine people have been killed in Russian drone and missile attacks on Kiev, Ukrainian officials said on Thursday.
Ukraine's State Emergency Service said dozens of people were injured, including six children, during the overnight attacks.
The overnight attack, one of the largest in recent months, came just hours after the White House presented Ukrainian officials with an ultimatum regarding a US proposal to end Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which began more than three years ago.
