Politician and Trump administration official Richard Grenell has taken aim at Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, calling him an unreliable leader for the United States and the international community.
In a statement made public on social media, he emphasized that the Trump administration has worked and will continue to work for peace in the Balkans, but that this requires reliable partners.
“Kurti’s government was not credible during Trump’s first term, nor during Biden’s term. Both Republicans and Democrats have repeatedly criticized Kurti for his unilateral actions that destabilize the region. The EU and NATO have also condemned him. The international community is united against Kurti,” the statement said.
He also claimed that American companies are expanding in Albania and Serbia, but not in Kosovo, because of Kurti.
“Kurti has been against every US idea offered by presidents Clinton, Bush, Obama, Biden and Trump,” he added, contradicting the Kosovo prime minister’s claims that he is closer to the United States than previous Kosovo governments.
In conclusion, he warned the citizens of Kosovo not to fall prey to Kurti's **"deceptive rhetoric"**, describing him as a leader who has isolated the country and lost international support.
But on the other hand, Albanian activist Evi Kokalari has reacted to the comments on Grenell's post, calling it election interference and reminding him that he is violating the law regarding the statements made in his post.
At the end of her status, Kokalari gives Grenell advice not to do things on behalf of President Trump without his prior approval.
Kokalari's comment:
THIS IS ELECTION INTERFERENCE. Make sure you add a disclaimer to this @POTUS
It has nothing to do with your statement, or else I will make sure he gets the information.
"I want to know what happened to your whole "Imran Khan" narrative that you promoted for Erdogan. Did Trump reprimand you for that? I wouldn't be surprised. Stop acting on behalf of President Trump without his prior approval."
