A 19-year-old man, identified as Keith Melvin Moses, has been arrested by police in Florida on charges of murder after shooting a gun yesterday morning.
As a result of the shooting during the day, a 9-year-old girl, a woman in her 20s and a journalist working for Spectrum News 13 were killed.
The arrested young man is expected to be charged for four other shootings that occurred later in the day, including the murder of the journalist.
He has a criminal record that includes weapons charges, aggravated assault and assault with a deadly weapon. It is still unknown why the young man targeted the journalists and the mother and daughter who were shot.
'Around 11 a.m. shots were reported near Hialeah Street, where they found a woman in her 20s who had been shot and died of her injuries.
Later at 4:05, we received 911 calls about another shooting at the location of the first homicide and a shooting nearby," said a police officer.
The two journalists – a photographer and reporter – were at the scene to cover the killing that morning and were shot in or near their vehicle. Police went to the scene of the third reported shooting and found a Harrington Street woman and her 9-year-old daughter also shot inside a home. The 9-year-old girl is dead. It is still unclear why the suspect entered the home.
