US President Joe Biden says that America and its allies " will not be intimidated by Putin, by his reckless words and threats".
Speaking from the White House about Russia's annexation of 4 regions in Ukraine, Biden said: "The United States will never recognize the annexation. And honestly, the world won't even know it. He cannot invade his neighbor's territory and throw it away so easily."
"America is fully prepared with our NATO allies to defend every inch of NATO territory, every inch. So, Mr. Putin, don't misunderstand what I'm saying: every inch," said US President Joe Biden.
Earlier, in another reaction, Biden strongly condemned the annexation of the territory of Ukraine by Russia.
"The United States condemns Russia's treacherous attempt to annex the sovereign territory of Ukraine. Russia is violating international law, violating the United Nations Charter and showing its contempt for peaceful nations everywhere," Biden said, adding that Russia's actions lack "legitimacy" and that the U.S. will continue to " always respect the internationally recognized borders of Ukraine".
Defending the new sanctions announced Friday, Biden added that the US "will rally the international community to denounce these moves and hold Russia accountable."
"I call on all members of the international community to reject Russia's illegal annexation efforts and stand with the people of Ukraine for as long as necessary," Biden said.
