The person who is thought to be the author of three murders of women in Rome is arrested. From what is learned, the circle is closing around the handcuffed person, who is now being interrogated by the Italian Police. According to local media, it is about an Italian citizen, about 50 years old, originally from Rome.
The 50-year-old Italian, previously known to the police for criminal drug offenses, was arrested in the morning near the Termini station, in via Milazzo. He was taken at 5.15 in the morning and it turns out that he was still wearing the same clothes as on the day of the murders. In the meantime, the forensic medicine is working on relief in the apartment where it was found.
The man was filmed at different angles by surveillance cameras in the area that runs from 'via Durazzo' to 'via Riboty' in Rome, where three women, two Chinese and one Colombian, were killed on Thursday morning. According to reports, Air Force agents also heard from a super witness, a woman of Cuban nationality who allegedly dated the killer after the crimes: "He told me he had killed three women," she confessed.
"Citizens can now be safe, the situation is under strict control and we believe we can say that the community can return to peace because there will be no other events related to these tragic events."
This is what the authorities have said about the murders in Rome. The police commissioner adds that "for the tragic events that happened in the district of Prat, we are extremely satisfied with the work that the police are doing, in informative synergy with the Carabinieri, following the indications of the Public Prosecution". Investigators are also looking into a chat on a dating platform in which the 65-year-old Colombian killed in the basement of via Durazzo was registered. The key to identifying the man who stabbed Martha Castano Torres and two Asian women, whose identities have not yet been determined, would lie within a conversation on a dating platform. It is a website used by Castano to schedule appointments with clients. It is in those digital contacts that investigators hope to find elements to turn the investigation around.
At the moment there is no trace of the weapon used to kill the three women and the bins in the area have almost all been searched. From the evidence collected so far, no identity of the attacker has emerged. At this point, the analysis of the television cameras present in the neighborhood and the prints could provide useful elements, as well as the examination of the fingerprints taken yesterday by the Scientific Police. Any traces of DNA present on the bodies of the victims are also being examined. From the way the murders were carried out at a short distance, in a limited period of time and with similar wounds, it cannot be ruled out that it was a premeditated plan. The two Chinese victims have not yet been identified and investigations are also underway in the property of the apartment in Via Riboty.
