Serious crime in Prizren, man attempts to kill wife and minor daughter with knife (Mother and daughter in serious condition)

A serious domestic crime was recorded shortly after midnight on Thursday in the city of Prizren.

Police announce that they found a woman and her daughter on "Rexhep Kabashi" street, with wounds caused by blows with a sharp instrument and bleeding.

It is learned that the minor girl was found by officers on the top floor of the apartment, while both injured women are in serious condition.

Forensic experts have arrested the head of the family as the suspected perpetrator of the incident.

The Basic Prosecution Office in Prizren - Serious Crimes Department, taking into account the handling of domestic violence cases and the importance of protecting victims in these cases, informs the public that on 17.10.2025 at around 00:20 after midnight on “Rexhep Kabashi” street in Prizren, the police received information about a case of domestic violence. The police patrol immediately responded to the call and upon arriving at the scene, encountered a female person (the defendant's wife) who was on the street with bodily injuries and bleeding caused by a sharp instrument - a knife. The victim was provided with first aid by police officers until the arrival of the emergency medical team. Also, on the top floor of the building, a second victim, a minor girl, was found. She also had bodily injuries and bleeding. The minor victim was provided with first aid and then, together with her mother, they were sent for treatment to the Prizren Regional Hospital. According to doctors, the health condition of both victims is serious.

The police and the forensic unit immediately went to the scene, in coordination with the acting Prosecutor from the Serious Crimes Department.

During the intervention, the defendant was identified and arrested at the entrance to the apartment, who was escorted to the police station for further procedures.

The prosecutor in charge has issued a ruling to detain the defendant for 48 hours, due to the well-founded suspicion that he has committed the criminal offenses of "Attempted Aggravated Murder" and "Unauthorized Ownership, Control or Possession of Weapons".

Within the legal deadline, the prosecution will file a request for the imposition of a pre-trial detention measure.

The Basic Prosecution Office in Prizren is undertaking all necessary investigative actions to fully clarify the circumstances of the case.
