Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he is preparing a lawsuit against the United States over the refusal to supply Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles, following a phone call between US President Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin that Kiev says may have influenced Washington's decision-making.

Zelensky said the decision to pursue the legal route came after the White House, following the dialogue between Trump and Putin, expressed hesitation about the deliveries of Tomahawks — missiles with a range of up to about 2,500 km — which Ukraine considers essential to hit targets deep inside Russian territory and change the dynamics of the front.

Zelensky's meeting with President Trump in Washington will take place on Friday and the central topic is expected to be the demand for long-range weapons, including Tomahawks.

After the Trump-Putin call, Trump said he was "looking at" the possibility of supply, but also stressed the need to maintain its own reserves.

Zelensky stated that Moscow was "hurrying to resume dialogue" as soon as it heard about the possibility of the Tomahawks, suggesting that the impact of the conversation may have deterred or delayed US support.

If the Ukrainian side finds legal ways to force or influence supplies, or if the legal process brings political pressure on the US, this could accelerate decisions on other weapons, but it could also sour diplomatic relations between the parties and open a broader debate about the sharing of US strategic arsenals.
