Although Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi are the most prominent names of SPAK, the special prosecutors have chosen to remain silent about the multitude of files and reports that have been submitted against them, at least until now.

The head of SPAK, Arben Kraja, who is nearing the end of his mandate as head of the structure, has stated that the institution he leads acts on the basis of reports and evidence.

For at least two files, one for Ilir Meta and the other for Monika Kryemadhi, SPAK has both; both reports and evidence.

Former MP Halit Valteri submitted at the beginning of June the voluminous files with the accusations leveled against Ilir Meta and his associates and former close associates in the former LSI transformed into the Freedom Party for lobbying money in the USA.

In his report, the former deputy said that it was triggered by the publication of an article by the largest Austrian newspaper, "Kronen Zeiting", which describes Ilir Meta as fundamentally corrupt. The newspaper refers to documents from the US Department of Justice.

The documents speak of thousands of dollars that Ilir Meta has poured almost every year at least until 2018 to lobby the Congress and the US administration. Most of this money was not declared in the party's expenses in the annual balance reports submitted to the Central Election Commission.

Avoiding this legal obligation raises doubts about the true source of this income. Valteri asks SPAK to investigate and verify whether this money has a source of corruption or not. But the biggest scandal is related to the lobbying of 700 thousand dollars with the company Dorelita Limited, registered in Cyprus, known as a tax haven.

The representative of the company is the Greek lawyer, Iraklis Fidetzis, and there are doubts that this contact was provided by Vangjel Tavo, the former deputy of the LSI for the District of Gjirokastra. In both cases, the source of the money is questionable.

Kësaj padie i shtohet edhe ajo ndaj Monika Kryemadhit e avokatit Idajet Beqiri. Ky i fundit kërkon nga prokurorët që të verifikojnë akuzat mbi shpenzimet për operacione estetike që ish-kryetarja e LSI-së ka kryer në San Marino. Shuma që përflitet se ajo ka shpenzuar ndër vite mund të jetë deri në 1 milionë euro.

Sipas gazetarit Adriatik Doçi, Kryemadhi ka qenë kliente që prej vitit 2004 e një klinike estetike të kushtueshme në San Marino, por në asnjë rast nuk ka deklaruar faturat e shpenzimeve në këtë klinikë, ashtu siç e detyron ligji për konfliktin e interesit.

Monika Kryemadhi vetë e ka pranuar se ka qenë për vizitë në këtë klinikë, por thotë se arsyet kanë qenë për një sëmundje që ajo vuan prej kohësh, jo për operacione estetike.

SPAK i duhet që të verifikojë se sa janë realisht këto shpenzime, duke marrë të dhënat nga klinika në fjalë në bashkëpunim me autoritetet e San Marinos. Është çështje proceduriale dhe jo aq ‘komplekse’, siç thuhet rëndom nëpër njoftimet e Prokurorisë së Posaçme për dosjet që po heton.

Por, si në rastin e Ilir Metës, ashtu edhe në atë të Monika Kryemadhit SPAK nuk është ndjerë duke lënë pa përgjigje pyetjet mbi burimin e parave që LSI ka lobuar në SHBA, a qëndron Ilir Meta pas lobimit të kompanisë Dorelita Limited dhe a ka shpenzuar Monika Kryemadhi para për operacione estetike në San Marino dhe nëse po sa.

Në të dyja rastet janë një mori ligjesh e nenesh të shkelura, që nga mosdeklarimi dhe fshehja e të ardhurave, korrupsioni potancial në krijimin e tyre e deri te ligji për konfliktin e interesit.

Për shumicën e qytetarëve shqiptarë këto pyetje janë retorike dhe e kanë përgjigjen brenda. Por, që ato të kenë vlerë ligjore përgjigjen duhet ta japë SPAK, që sot në lidhje me këto çështje është ‘as mish dhe as peshk’. Çështjet janë edhe një testim mbi besimin që qytetarët i kanë dhënë këtij institucioni, ku prokurorët paguhen deri në gjashtë herë më shumë se paga mesatare e vendit.

Why are they a test? The evidence for both cases was also published in the media, when Vox News was among the first. But what journalists have done with a simple search on the official website of the US Department of Justice, SPAK with logistic, financial and human resources several times more powerful so far has either not done, or has done and I am silent.

Whatever the reason, it weighs on the credibility of this institution, so it's time for SPAK to speak up.
