Krokodil Kladha (in contemporary sources: Krokodeilos Kladas ) was an Albanian commander from Chameria, known for his service as a stratiot in the army of the Republic of Venice in the Peloponnese during the 15th century. He distinguished himself for his fighting skills and courage in battles against the Ottomans.
When Venice made peace with the Ottoman Empire, Kladha refused to surrender to the enemy and continued the war as an independent leader, attacking Ottoman garrisons in the Morea and on the Albanian coast.
Later captured by the Ottomans, he was rescued by the Venetians and sent to the Kingdom of Naples.
In 1481, with the support of the Neapolitan king, he returned to Albania together with John Kastrioti and Muzaka, liberating the castle of Himara and defeating a large Ottoman army.
According to sources, after several more years of fighting, Kladha was killed by the Ottomans and his body was dismembered – a tragic end for one of the most famous Albanian warriors of the Middle Ages.
