A belated action by the Elbasan Police has documented the alarming pollution in the Metalurgjiku area. For many years, certain companies had been burning fuel in the open air and without any protective measures, poisoning hundreds of thousands of residents of the entire city or even the surrounding areas. The pollution reached as far as Cërrik or Peqin, while the entire area was covered in large clouds of smoke. But state institutions, local governments or environmental inspectorates did not even bother to stop this rampant pollution.

In a press release, the State Police said that they had been monitoring the area for 2 years, while the lack of intervention seems quite strange. If police officers saw materials burning in nature, emitting large plumes of smoke or soot, why didn't they intervene?! Of course, the precedent of KURUM also weighed on other companies operating in the area, which without exception have become a major source of pollution, which no government has had the courage to stop.

A project by the Albanian Investment Corporation aims to rehabilitate and put into use the Metalurgjiku land, but so far the project is on paper and no action has been taken. Perhaps other oligarchs have set their sights on it, given that the area is close to Tirana or even the Port of Durres itself. It may have been a sponsored operation, but what stinks is that two other oligarchs, who earn tens of millions of euros a year, managed to continue working in that area, poisoning Elbasan.

VoxNews has learned that among the names that have been announced as wanted are none other than Agron Shapllo and Serafin Orgocka, who have created a network of companies in the energy, electrical and metal sectors. Both are shareholders of the company "GSA", while this company has also opened a sub-company called "GSA Ferrokrom". The ferrochrome company operated in the Metalurgjiku area and is responsible for its illegal activity, but in complete violation of all laws and regulations of nature.

"The burning took place mainly at night, in the open air and within the company's yard. Heavy smoke was emitted every night inside the companies 'ÇALB' shpk and 'GSA Ferrokrom'. For several months, sufficient evidence of the environmentally destructive activity has been collected. 16 people were arrested on charges of engaging in illegal activity in waste processing and ferrochrome production," the police statement said.

It is learned that 9 people are foreigners and 7 Albanians, in managerial, technical and employee roles in both entities. 8 people, shareholders of two companies that poisoned Elbasan for at least 2 years in a row, have been declared wanted. They are accused of 4 criminal offenses, from air, water and land pollution, concealment of income, illegal employment and money laundering, committed in collaboration. So far, the police have no information about Shapllo and Orgocka, owners of GSA.

Sources from the State Police told VoxNews that the two owners of GSA Ferrokrom have been amnestied for years, because they have had and have strong political connections. They have created a genuine network of firms, easily obtaining tenders and continuing their activity in the field of metals. Both have made millions of euros at the expense of ordinary citizens, from this activity.

Police investigations must definitely extend to the profits of their companies. The poisoning of the Elbasan people has been extremely profitable for them, as in 2024 the parent company GSA came out with a profit of 2.5 million euros.

Naturally, the poisoning of Elbasan people has a huge cost, both in terms of health and nature. Law enforcement agencies should impose a seizure on the company, forcing it to pay all the profits. This profit could then be used to invest in hospitals, kindergartens or schools. However, such a thing is unlikely to happen, since as in any case, people with power or money throw peace at justice, not to mention that perhaps Shapllo and Orgocka have arranged the "papers" while writing these lines.

In the 2024 balance sheet, the GSA Ferrokrom company came out with a profit of 1.7 million euros. With this much money, several health centers or even kindergartens and nurseries are regulated. However, it seems that the money may be intended for law enforcement agencies themselves, the closure of investigative or judicial processes.

A few months ago, the editorial staff of VoxNews denounced with documents that the two young oligarchs have won predetermined tenders, mainly from institutions that produce, transmit and trade electricity. The GSA firm has easily won tenders announced by OSSH, OSHEE and OST, which are state-owned companies. It has won all the tenders without competition and with strong suspicions of predetermined ones.

According to documents researched by the VoxNews editorial team, the two oligarchs who are ranked in the top 10 richest people in Albania have received a total of 10 million euros from these institutions over 3 years. The documents drafted by these institutions seem to be best suited to the GSA, which is expanding day by day into other areas, turning into a large money "laundering machine".

It seems that the directors of the institutions that produce, transmit and trade energy, adapt the documents as Shapllo and Orgocka want. GSA is ranked as the largest company that buys energy from KESH and then sells it to OSHEE. But, it sells and does business with OSHEE for electricity meters. The same firm even supervises the process. If a private firm does all this, what are the state offices for? Or to make documents and distribute money according to their interests.
