A serious incident has shocked the Albanian community in the city of Chiari, Italy, where 21-year-old Eduart Xhani is suspected of killing his mother, 39-year-old Meleqe Lusha, by stabbing her several times.
After the crime, the young man left the apartment, and in the early hours of the morning he presented himself at the Carabinieri provincial command in Cremona, where he confessed to the incident and admitted his authorship.
After his testimony, the officers went to the apartment where the mother and son lived, on Via Tagliata Traversa II, where they found the 39-year-old's dead body.
Xhani has been arrested on charges of intentional murder, while the motive for the incident remains unclear. Investigations are ongoing to clarify the circumstances and to understand if there were any conflicts or family tensions between mother and son.
The event has caused shock in the Albanian community of the area, where the family was well-known and integrated into the social life of the city.
Denis Beqiri, president of the Albanian Association in Chiari, expressed shock at what happened, describing the 21-year-old as a kind and dedicated boy.
"Eduart was an example for the community. We would never have imagined such an event. He committed an unforgivable act. We cannot understand it ," Beqiri told Italian media.
He indicated that the young man had completed an internship at his real estate agency, after completing his studies at the "Einaudi" institute in Chiari.
"He was very skilled, he used CAD programs without difficulty, he was modest and dedicated. I had given him the highest rating ," Beqiri confessed.
Afterwards, Eduart Xhani started working with his relatives in construction and later found work at a local company, where he is currently no longer employed.
Meanwhile, his mother, Meleqe Lusha, worked in a cooperative that managed the cafeteria service at the Brescia Civil Hospital.
According to Italian media, the mother and son lived alone in the apartment where the crime occurred. The 39-year-old had raised her son with the help of her four brothers. Eduard grew up without his father and was described as a reserved person who often attended the gym.
The mayor of Chiari, Gabriele Zotti, stated that the family was well-known in the community and that there had been no previous signs warning of a problematic situation.
"Nobody had ever noticed anything that would make us think there was a problem ," he said.
Italian authorities are continuing their investigations to fully elucidate the dynamics of the event and the motive that led to this serious crime.
