New details have come to light from the serious incident in the city of Chiari, Italy, where 21-year-old Albanian Eduart Xhani is suspected of stabbing his mother, 39-year-old Meleqe Lusha, inside their apartment.
The incident has shocked the local community, while authorities continue investigations to fully elucidate the circumstances and motives of the crime.
According to the preliminary reconstruction of the event, the crime took place at night in the family's apartment, on Via Tagliata. After the incident, the young man fled the scene, but later surrendered to the Carabinieri in Cremona.
The mayor of Chiari, Gabriele Zotti, expressed the shock of the community, emphasizing that the news has affected not only the people who knew the family, but the entire city.
"The community was shocked today by this news, by this tragic event that has affected all citizens. It is news that has hit not only those who knew the family due to neighborhood, family ties or friendship, but the entire city," the mayor declared.
In the mayor's account, the family is described as a working family integrated into the life of the city.
According to him, Meleqe Lusha separated from her husband when her son was still young and took care of his upbringing on her own, facing the sacrifices and responsibilities of parenting.
She had the support of her four brothers, who worked in the construction sector and were well-known in the city. The 39-year-old was also a hardworking woman herself. She worked at the Civil Hospital of Brescia, where she faced the daily commitments and sacrifices of work.
According to the mayor, Eduart Xhani grew up in Chiari, where he attended school from primary to secondary school. He emphasized that until now the young man had not been noted for any particular problems or concerns.
"He is a boy who until now had not been reported for problems and had not caused any concerns. This makes it even more difficult to understand what could have happened and what led him to violence last night," said Zotti.
The mayor emphasized that investigators and justice bodies must do their job to accurately determine the causes of this tragedy.
"Let's let justice do its job and determine the causes that may have led to this violent event. But as a community, we all need to ask ourselves some questions," he declared.
In conclusion, Zotti stated that the city continues to be shocked by an event that, according to preliminary investigations, involves violence by a boy against his mother.
"We are faced with an act of violence committed by a son against his mother, as results from the first reconstructions of the event. Faced with a tragedy so difficult to understand, Chiari is asking himself how this could have happened," concluded the mayor.
Meanwhile, investigations continue to uncover the motives and all circumstances of the murder.
