The Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania has cleared the way for the licensing of JET Bank, the institution that aims to become the first fully digital bank in the country.
Today's decision by the Council grants preliminary approval for its licensing, a key step that enables the entity to begin preparations for operating in the Albanian banking market.
According to the announcement, JET Bank is expected to function as a bank built on advanced technology and with a fully digitalized model, focused on simplicity, security and customer experience.
Its mission is to bring a new approach to financial services, away from traditional formats and with the aim of modernizing the way citizens and businesses interact with banks.
The licensing process takes place in two phases, as defined by the law "On Banks in the Republic of Albania": preliminary approval and then the granting of the final license.
After receiving prior approval, JET Bank has up to 12 months to meet all legal and regulatory requirements, from capital injection to establishing technical and organizational infrastructure.
JET Bank is the second entity to receive prior approval to enter the Albanian banking market, after Turkish bank Ziraat, which received this permission phase earlier.
