Albania is experiencing a significant increase in the use of electric vehicles. According to DPSHTRR data, there are around 6,400 fully electric vehicles in the country.
Last year alone, 3,127 electric vehicles were registered, a 72% increase compared to 2023.
The year 2024 marked the highest number of registrations since 2019, when there were only 35 electric cars registered for the first time in a year.
Most of them turn out to be cars, followed by mixed transport vehicles and motorcycles.
This positive trend shows an awareness among citizens about the benefits offered by 'green' vehicles, such as reducing environmental pollution or reducing costs.
The increase in electric vehicles also raises the need for expanding charging points.
However, of the total number of vehicles registered in 2024, electric vehicles will account for 3.1%. The majority, 64%, are diesel, and 23% gasoline.
