The construction of the Elbasan - Lekaj highway will cost 148 million euros, including VAT.
The Albanian Road Authority has signed contracts with the companies that were declared winners and that will implement the works in the 6 lots of this axis.
The signing of the contracts paves the way for the start of works that, according to the tender documents, will last 24 months, or in other words, will be completed in December 2026.
This road axis has a length of 40.7 km and passes through the regions of Elbasan (Bradashesh, Shirgjan, Gjegjan, Cërrik, Papër), Peqin (Pajovë, Shez, Gjocaj, Peqin, Karine) and Kavajë (Sinaballaj, Rrogozhinë). It starts near the former Metallurgical Plant in Elbasan and ends in Lekaj, near Rrogozhinë.
Elbasan - Lekaj is a segment of Corridor 8, which means that after the completion of the works it will be a highway, while referring to the tender documents the allowed speed will be in the range of 90 - 140 km/h.
Corridor 8 is considered the core infrastructure project in our country, while work is currently underway on 8 other lots, from Elbasan to Qafë Thana. This is a public work that will receive the largest share of the road budget funds for 2025, with around 8.8 billion lekë planned./Scan
