From November 15, a metal coin with a nominal value of 100 Lek will be put into

The Bank of Albania announced that starting on November 15, metal coins with a nominal value of 100 Lek, legal tender, issued in 2023, will be put into circulation. According to the Central Bank, these metal coins have the same composition, appearance, size and weight with the last issue of this cut.

The change from the last issue lies in the year of issue printed on the body of the metal coin, which in the new coins will be "2023" as well as in the spelling of the words "LEKE", "QUEEN" and "ALBANIA".

After about two weeks, these coins will be used as means of payment in parallel with all the existing metal coins in circulation of this denomination, issues of previous years.

Meanwhile, on May 28 of this year, the Bank of Albania put into circulation metal coins with a nominal value of 10 lek, with a legal tender, issued in 2023.

Data from the Bank of Albania show that the value of national currencies in circulation, at the end of 2023, reached 408 billion ALL, or 6.8 billion ALL more than a year ago.

Putting the national currency "lek" into circulation is the exclusive duty of the Bank of Albania. It defines the shapes, weights, measures, model and other characteristics of the Albanian banknotes and coins, with legal tender within the country.
