Waiting three or more hours at the airport to depart for your planned destination is "tedious" but normal for Wizz Air.

This is the panorama of the last weeks at the Tirana International Airport "Mother Teresa", where hundreds of passengers, cheap prices are turning into a "nightmare".

Albanian Post's interest in the whole situation was answered by two Albanian citizens, who spoke about their experience with this company.

One case does not resemble the other

Arriving in the neighboring country, Italy, was not "successful" for the Albanian citizen M. Zefi, who wants to remain anonymous, but the return "yes".

She had not received any notification that her flight to Italy had been postponed.

Thus, she recounted all the exhaustion she had to spend for three hours waiting at Mother Teresa Airport.

"I shot 'lucky' because there were those who were expecting even more," she told the AP, adding that "the stress was too high."

On the other hand, passenger Xh. Shyti talks about the correctness of the company.

"Mom went to the travel agency to check in a few days before. "They informed him that the departure to Bologna was approaching," she said.

According to her, this is not normal, since the flight is delayed, it is something that "can be accepted", but "to approach you ?!".

She stressed that, if they had not notified her, she would have missed the flight.

"The flight was for Friday at 19:40 and they had approached it at 14:55 - without notifying anyone and without sending an e-mail at least", continued Shyti.

Where does the stalemate lie?

Albanian Post tried to understand where the stalemate of delays, flight delays, or cancellations lies.

A steward, employed by Wizz Air - agreed to speak only on condition of anonymity - said that one of the reasons for the above comes from bookings to Italy, which are very "high".

According to him, the most significant problems are observed on the airlines Albania-Italy and vice versa.

Passengers are often late as they are accommodated, "creating chaos inside the plane."

"Passengers come and stay for a long time, seeing which line they are in," said the steward, who added, "they are late to put their luggage in the cabin - at least 10-15 minutes are delayed by each sector."

In addition to this problematic, he continued the reasoning, there are many flights, which are not "full flight".

He linked the latter to the fact that the planes are not full for several different countries and "full" for Italy.

This also creates the vacuum, or the lack of aircraft often, according to him.

Delays for various reasons…

Among other things, the steward has listed some "reasons" why delays occur.

"There are delays also due to the stairs to get people down."

The latter is not the fault of the passengers, as he hinted, but that, “the persons authorized to bring the stairs are late. "In fact, there are cases when they do not decide properly."

"In very rare cases it has happened and sometimes there have been problems with the air conditioner", here he mentioned the case that happened a few days ago, where on social media the passengers published a video that showed the chaos created inside the plane.

In conclusion, he reiterated that the latter has occurred in "very, very rare cases and, in this way, passengers get off the plane, and this causes delays for other flights that follow".

Even in an article by Deutsche Welle, the delays at many airports were mainly related to the lack of cargo and staff, but according to the verifications in the flight schedule of Rinas, departure-arrival, it turns out that what happens with Wizz Air, does not happen with the companies others which have no flight delays or cancellations.

Wizz Air operates in Albania

This company started operating for destinations and from Albania on May 1 of this year.

It would be the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, who on February 9 would announce one of the decisions of the meeting of the Council of Ministers.

"Wizz Air and several others," she said, "are committed to increasing the number of flights per week starting May 1."

Balluku then announced that Albania, in the last three years has made great strides in the field of aviation, starting with the construction and opening of the second airport in Kukës, which is now operational.

According to her, the DCM would enable the Civil Aviation Authority to closely monitor all operators providing civil aviation services.

Recall that the restrictions of COVID-19 have already been completely removed by the states. Perhaps this has led to a very high influx of tourists and passengers, who after two years of being blocked seem to be planning to travel abroad.

It is expected that - as provided by law - there will be a reaction from the Civil Aviation of our country to intervene in this "nightmare", which has gripped the citizens, who are booking flights and those who are "afraid" to take such a step.
