From January 1, 2104 businesses connected to the 20 kV voltage will no longer be supplied by the Universal Service Supplier, which means they will have to choose their own electricity supplier.
This means that they will have to conclude a service contract with one of the companies licensed by the Energy Regulatory Authority in the activity of electricity supply. There are currently 34 companies licensed to carry out this activity, while one of them is the Free Market Supplier, part of OSHEE.
Businesses will have to choose one of the supplier companies, with which they will conclude a contract where, among other things, they will set the price at which the energy will be provided. This is because according to the legislation in force, the supply of electricity to end customers is done at unregulated prices, which is determined on the basis of contracts negotiated between the supplier and the end customer.
The contract may also contain other conditions depending on the specific character and type of service provided by the supplier, such as the time of connection to the customer's network, the quality levels of the service provided, provisions regarding compensation and reimbursement, in case of non-fulfilment of the contracted service quality level, etc.
The 2104 businesses that are part of the list published by OSHEE entered the liberalized market in 2022, but due to high prices as a result of the crisis, they were included in a scheme, benefiting from more favorable prices than the market.
