The haste of Sali Berisha and Ilir Meta to sign the creation of their political pole has dealt a blow to the hope of the opposition to unite before the local elections.

This is because the establishment of a common political entity from above, at a time when negotiations for the merger are in progress, or discussions about the candidacies for mayor, is nothing more than placing before the "fait accompli", the logic that any candidacy for mayor or councilors for next year's local elections, will have to be sealed by the Berisha-Meta political couple.

The so-called "primary process" has been killed from the beginning, if there really was any hope for a democratic selection of opposition candidates.

Meanwhile, the sole imposition of declaring themselves as the highest political authorities, to the exclusion of all other opposition factors, has simply deepened the division in the wavering opposition archipelago.

Today, in the environment of the opposition, there are not only Sali Berishë and Ilir Meta, but as you know, there are a number of old and less old political forces, which have always been part of the alliances or electoral battles of this part of politics.

Ilir Meta, until March 6 of this year, had not competed together with the DP since 2011, while various opposition factors have been part of the influence represented mainly in the municipal councils.

Why didn't Berisha and Meta invite to their alliance: Fatmir Mediu, Agron Dukë, Dashamir Shehi, the National Front or Legality parties? Because with this action, they want to tell everyone else that everything will pass from the "House of Freedom number 2". Whoever follows them well, otherwise they will be called traitors or servants of Edi Rama.

Both Berisha and Meta could very well have waited for the start of a broad discussion in Tirana, or in other municipalities, of all the opposition factors, about the way to select candidates, and then start the process of exiting or issuing names. And then, they could join this process, when the common candidates for mayors would be at the top.

But if this happened, then we would have a new political body in the country, which even if it did not win in a certain municipality, would be part of the political team of the joint opposition.

Meta and Berisha are 30-year-old transition politicians, where every political solution did not come as a process, but as an imposition of a reality, instigated by them.

The primaries that will take place inside the "House of Freedom" start prejudiced and commanded by the pair, who, as Ilir Meta said yesterday, have in mind not only the candidates for mayors, but also for mayors of the municipal council.

On the other hand, the "signed agreement" with a pompous ceremony was also a clear political signal to Enkelejd Alibeaj's group, to lynch him from today as "servants of Edi Rama."

The couple of "Liberty House 2" want to hinder the political factor of the Democratic Party at the base, which is not attached to the pulpit. The problems that the protests called by Berisha had with the participation, is a pure organizational handicap, resulting from the lack of control of the branches of the Democratic Party.

They want to atrophy this important force in the territory with operations such as today's, which they used on March 6 to defeat Lulzim Basha, but not Edi Rama.

It is not the intention of "House of Freedom number 2" to defeat Edi Rama, even if they have it for a longer term. Both Berisha and Meta want to have a political cover, to use it as a stronghold both with the new justice system and with the internationals. They, i.e. Meeta and Berisha, have the biggest enemy of the real Democratic Party, which is based on the parliamentary group, as well as its branch structures.

The chairman of the Democratic Party of Shkodra, Xhevdet Amuli, clearly stated that if the farcical process of the "primaries" is not stopped, there will be no union. And in all likelihood, there will be not only unification, but we are expected to experience an aggressive competition between the opposition.

Race, which may even be positive, if it develops in a normal way.

In the bastion areas of the right, for example in Shkodër, we will have a new, but bigger and more re-dimensioned duel between the "House of Freedom 2" and the Democratic Party. The chances are that the candidate of the SP will be seen as an influencer of this race, in the votes he can take away from the candidate of Berisha-Meta or the one of the Democratic Party.

Chances are that this race will not take place in a framework of chaos and confusion like on March 6, since the parties know each other well. There are two parties in their strong positions, and they have also seen a model such as the municipality of Shkodra. Model, who, more than the socialists, clashed with the Democratic Party, whose supporters he fired. While in other areas where the SP has a primary political support, the parties will be divided as on March 6.

And it will happen after this date that the supporters of the pulpit will calculate who has more and who has less of the share of the loss. As Meta and Berisha, they are interested in a political territory to exercise their power, not a broad consensus to win the elections.
