A country needs patriots because patriots are the moral and social foundation that keeps a nation alive and thriving.

To put it more clearly and precisely (exactly): a country needs patriots for four main reasons:

1?. To preserve identity and cultural heritage.
Patriots are those who care about collective memory, preserving the language, traditions, monuments and values ??that distinguish a nation from others. Without them, the history, language, customs and values ??of a nation are lost over time.

Without patriots, a nation dissolves into oblivion and assimilation.

2. To defend freedom and sovereignty.
In times of crisis, foreign invasion or internal threat to independence, patriots are those who rise up to defend freedom and sovereignty.
The history of every nation, including Albania, shows that without patriots, a country can lose its freedom and be subjugated, even in modern forms or content.

3. To build a fairer and better society.
Patriotism is not only about the past, but also about the future. True patriots criticize injustices, fight corruption, work for better education, fairer justice, a stronger economy, because they love their fellow citizens and want a country where future generations can live better.

4. To unite and inspire society.
Patriots are often figures who inspire national unity and solidarity in difficult times. They help people not only think about themselves, but feel a sense of responsibility for the community and the nation.

In short: A country without patriots has no memory, no protection, no improvement, and no inspiration. Patriots are the people who keep the spirit of the nation alive, not just in words, but in deeds.
Being a patriot means having a deep sense of love, devotion, and responsibility for your homeland - the country, culture, history, and values ??that make up its identity.

This is not just an emotional feeling: patriotism also implies a willingness to contribute to the good of the country, to protect it and improve it, often placing the common interest above personal interests.

In a more modern sense:

1. Patriotism is not blindness. So, it does not mean accepting everything without criticism. A true patriot loves his country enough to demand that it improve, to fulfill the ideals of justice, equality, and human dignity.

2. Patriotism is not hatred of others. This means that love for one's country does not exclude respect and understanding for other countries.

Bright minds have argued that “healthy patriotism” is a critical patriotism, which is balanced with a sense of global responsibility and respect for universal rights.

In short: Being a patriot is not simply saying you love your country, but showing that you love it by working for its justice, development, and good, even when this requires criticism, reform, or sacrifice.

Jefferson, one of the founding fathers of the United States and the principal author of the Declaration of Independence, is often referred to as a patriot. Why? Because he did not understand patriotism simply as support for the existing government, but as a commitment to the ideals of liberty, justice, and the natural rights of citizens. He believed that if the government violated these ideals, citizens had the right (even the duty) to oppose it. Thus, his patriotism was active, critical, and closely linked to the moral progress of the country.

Ismail Qemali is a key figure in the history of Albanian independence. He was not a patriot just because he loved Albania, but because he worked to build a free, independent and modern state, in a very difficult period for the Albanian nation. He faced pressure from foreign powers and internal divisions, but his stance was clear: an Albania that respects the rights of its citizens and unites Albanians in a just state. He understood patriotism not as romantic nostalgia, but as a political and moral project for the future of the nation.

Patriotism is not just a flag and a song. It is a commitment to building a fairer and better homeland, whether through criticism, improvement, or sacrifice.
