I had thought, perhaps wrongly, that judicial reform was only a distant memory, as I had considered it dead, because the main jackals of politics had attacked it, beaten it, bit it and cut it all the time, even before it was born.

And I was almost convinced that they had succeeded in their mission and determination to kill the only hope of ending chronic impunity in this country, where the abuse of power has become a cult for more than three decades.

Today there is a faint signal that she might be alive and that would not be bad news. The way they are reacting to the election of the new head of SPAK and especially the high attention of the political "strongmen" to the whole process makes me think that there is still some faint hope that something can change in the future .

Personally, the names of the candidates for the head of SPAK mean nothing to me, because I have never connected anything with them, while their relations with the public do not make them very different from each other. That's why I don't equate the winner of the race with the idea that maybe all the candles of faith that one day justice can work in this country have not been extinguished. However timid and frustrated by political pressure she may be.

What makes the most impression today is the fact that the two ends of politics in Tirana feel equally concerned with the latest news from the SPAK front.

"Rilindja" a little more restrained, but clearly upset and challenged, while "Foltorja" more honest and more direct in its aggressiveness, maybe because it doesn't lack much diplomacy, because it has nothing to lose.

This is enough to consider it as a small step in the right direction, even if this ruckus in the dome of SPAK brings nothing at all in the future.

The fact that it has disturbed the sleep of all those who are responsible for all the tragedies that have happened in Albania during these 32 years is no small thing.
