Shocking details have emerged from the investigations into the serious incident that shook the city of Pogradec, where 52-year-old Kozeta Teço was found dead in her apartment engulfed in flames.
Sources indicate that the victim was brutally murdered before the perpetrator lit a fire to destroy evidence inside the apartment.
According to preliminary investigations, the suspected perpetrator, Ilirjan Selmani, who is known to have had an intimate relationship with the victim, is suspected of having initially strangled and stabbed the 52-year-old with a cutting tool. Then, in order to cover up the crime, he used towels and tissues to clean the scene, which were later found covered in blood in a trash can near the building where the victim lived.
Police say the suspected perpetrator set several fires inside the apartment to stage an accident and avoid any evidence that could implicate him. The examination of security cameras from surrounding businesses helped the investigative team identify and then accompany Selmani, who was sent for investigative experiments at the scene.
While he has denied involvement in the crime, police are continuing intensive investigations to fully document the motives and circumstances that led to this macabre murder.
