Ilaria Sula had been missing for a week. Today, her parents and brother learned the shocking news. She had been murdered by her ex-boyfriend, a Filipino, who after committing the crime, put the 22-year-old's body in a suitcase and dumped it in a wooded area a few kilometers from Rome.
But how did her family find out about this event?
On March 25, their daughter, who was studying Statistics at La Sapienza University, left the apartment she was renting with some friends, but never returned. Alarmed, they notified the young woman's parents, who immediately reported the incident to the police.
Ilaria Sula's family had arrived in Italy from the Lushnja area, to start a new life. Her mother, Gëzime Sula, works as a cleaner, while her father, Flamur Sula, works in a construction company. They live in a house near the stadium in Terni, together with their second child, a 19-year-old son.
After the girl's disappearance, her mother had a premonition that something bad had happened.
"I immediately realized that something was wrong because she usually made video calls and did not use simple messages. Then I spoke to the friends she lived with and together with my husband we decided to immediately report her disappearance. I know that the investigations immediately led to the boy that Ilaria had a relationship with in the past, but we know very little about him," said Gëzime Sula, the victim's mother.
Ilaria's brother tries to answer this incident, but he can't. No one can explain why his sister's ex-boyfriend committed the macabre crime.
"We can't explain it. Why did he do this? We don't understand why he did it, only he knows," he said.
He also recounted the last message with his sister, while indicating that he knew her ex-boyfriend, but according to him, they had broken up.
"I spoke to Ilarian for the last time two weeks ago because she wanted to visit us in Terni. She was calm, she didn't tell us about any problems. Then only messages, but I'm sure she didn't write to her. I knew her, they were together for 1 year, but then they broke up," he said.
In connection with this event, Mark Antony Samson has admitted to the crime.
