Tirana Police have provided information about the murder of Judge Astrit Kalaja, today inside the courtroom at the Tirana Court of Appeals.

Police say the crime was committed by Elvis Shkambi, the son of Gjon Shkambi, who was a party to the trial being held today over a property issue.

Police Announcement:

At around 15:40, in the premises of the Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction in Tirana, during a court proceeding, it is suspected that citizen E. Sh., 30 years old (party to the proceedings) fired a firearm at the judge, citizen AK, and citizens RK, 65 years old and EK, 45 years old, his son (the other party to the proceedings). 

As a result, citizen AK lost his life and citizens RK and E. K were injured, but their lives are out of danger.

Upon receiving the notification, the Police Services immediately went to the scene and made it possible to capture and escort to the premises of the Tirana Police Department, the suspected perpetrator, citizen E. Sh., and seized the crime weapon.
