"Appeals Judge Astrit Kalaja is executed by gunfire.
The media reports that an armed person shot and killed the acting Court of Appeals Judge Astrit Kalaja in the courtroom, who died from his wounds shortly after.
Expressing my deepest condolences to the family, friends and relatives of the late Judge Kalaja, I condemn with the utmost force the ugly and criminal act against the judge in the courtroom, evidence of the control of order by crime and the great insecurity that exists in the country today.
"I demand the strictest legal punishment for the perpetrator and the orderers of this very serious crime," Berisha wrote on social media.
The head of government, Edi Rama, reacted to the event, stating that "this tragedy requires a reflection on the internal security system of the courts, which, in addition to requiring certain technological equipment according to the law, cannot remain a matter of choosing between private police in the name of the independence of the judiciary."
The President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, has also expressed shock, condemning this serious act, calling it a macabre attack on the justice system itself, on which coexistence and social peace are based.
