Sali Berisha has been summoned today, at 09:00, to SPAK for the state crime of January 21. The former prime minister's appearance at the Special Prosecution Office to testify about his role and responsibility for the bullets that killed 4 protesters on the boulevard in front of the prime minister's office comes after two previous summonses were rejected.
The third summons was handed to him at SPAK on Monday when Berisha went to enforce the mandatory appearance measure for the "Partizani" affair, which has gone to trial.
Initially, Friday was scheduled, but it was later postponed to Wednesday after Berisha claimed that he would be out of the country that day.
In yesterday's public appearance, he declared that he would appear before the Prosecutor's Office. But if he still refuses to respond to SPAK's summons today, then the prosecution has the obligation to order his compulsory escort. Former Interior Minister Lulzim Basha was also summoned to give his testimony earlier.
Berisha's call comes about a year and a half since SPAK took over the file on the 4 murders of protesters.
