The decrease in temperatures has been accompanied by an increase in the number of children affected by seasonal viruses.
Among the many viruses in circulation, the head of the Department of Infectious Diseases at the Institute of Public Health affirms that the syncytial respiratory virus, or known by the term RSV, is also in circulation, which mainly affects children and can cause fatality.
"There have been cases, and serious cases, with respiratory syncytial virus, it is a virus that affects children and young people and those over 65 years old," said Bino.
Bino appeals for parents to immediately see a doctor, at the first signs.
Based on the alarm given for the syncytial respiratory virus, the specialists of the Institute of Public Health will include testing for this virus in their work.
To protect against respiratory syncytial virus, a vaccine has now been approved for adults and the Institute of Public Health is working to introduce it in Albania as well.
