Apartment on fire

An apartment on the fourth floor of a building in the "Parruca" neighborhood was engulfed in flames this morning.

The fire brigade arrived at the scene, thus making it possible to put out the flames, which are suspected to have come as a result of carelessness by the head of the family, who had forgotten to light the cigarette. 

The fire then spread to the gas appliances in the apartment. Due to the smoke that covered the area, a citizen suffocated and was urgently sent to the Shkodra hospital where he was given first aid and his condition appears to be stabilized. 

Mayor Benet Beci also arrived at the scene and met the members of the Haxhia family who lived in the apartment. He then entered the apartment to inspect the damage caused by the fire.
