The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, has added another complaint to the Constitutional Court.
As reported, Veliaj's lawyers have added an object to the complaint submitted to the Constitutional Court, including the decree and its partial suspension, regarding the part of the elections in Tirana.
"The Constitutional Court itself, if it does not immediately suspend the decree, would find itself faced with a fait accompli where even its annulling decision would not be able to restore the previous situation, as the electoral process would have produced irreversible consequences, including the election of a new president," the letter states.
"The presidential decree is contra Constitutionem (unconstitutional). The mandate of the Mayor is not a personal mandate, but an expression of the sovereignty of the citizens of Tirana." It requests the Constitutional Court to immediately protect representative democracy," the complaint to the Constitutional Court states.
