The Supreme Court rejects Erion Veliaj's appeal, the former mayor of Tirana remains in prison

Veliaj requested a relaxation of the security measure, claiming that there is no possibility of destroying the evidence, since SPAK has closed the investigations and submitted the file to the court.

Former Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj appealed to the High Court the measure of arrest in prison imposed on him by the GJKKO and upheld by the Special Appeal.

We recall that on September 10, SPAK closed the investigations and sent Veliaj's file for trial.

The former mayor has been in Durrës detention cells since February of this year for matters related to corruption and abuse of office during his time as mayor of the capital.
