Elon Musk and Donald Trump

The clash between Donald Trump and Elon Musk is getting increasingly personal. The US president reacted sharply to the news that Musk is planning to create a new political party in the US, calling the move "crazy" and adding that Musk has "completely gone off the rails."

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump wrote that he “missed” the old version of Musk and that his attempt to establish a “third party” was unlikely to succeed. According to him, third parties in the US only “bring chaos and division” and could never survive in the American political system.

"I'm sorry to say it, but Elon has gone off the rails. He hasn't been the same for five weeks. Now he's going to start a new party, which never works in America. The system doesn't accept them. They only cause chaos and destabilization," Trump wrote, noting that there is already enough chaos with the "radical left Democrats."

Trump did not forget to mention a recent victory for Republicans, the passage of a new law that, according to him, cancels the obligation to buy electric cars. “Our citizens are free to choose: gasoline, hybrid or any new technology,” he wrote, in a clear jab at Musk and his company Tesla.

Trump also revealed that Musk had sought to appoint a friend of his to head NASA, but was later disappointed to discover that he was a "hard-core Democrat" and had never supported Republicans.

Faced with all these accusations, Elon Musk chose irony. In a brief reaction on the X platform (formerly Twitter), he said: "Social Truth? I've never heard of it."
