The 16-year-old Mariglen Gjonaj, who disappeared 7 years ago, is suspected to have been killed by Kristjan Cenaj for financial gain as he had a gold pendant and a Rolex watch with him, the Police confirmed today.
The suspect that Kristjan Cenaj was behind this event was also suspected by the victim's mother 7 years ago in a statement for TV Klan.
Liljana Gjonaj, the mother of the deceased, stated in 2015 that the last person her son had been with was Kristjan Cenaj, who has already been arrested as he is suspected of being the author of Mariglen Gjonaj's murder.
The teenager's mother said that she learned from the testimonies of her fellow villagers that her son was seen that day with a young man from Mamurrasi. In 2015, she filed a report with the police but stated that her son's disappearance was registered as leaving home. She suspected that the 16-year-old was taken hostage or mistreated to be robbed because he had valuables and jewelry with him.
Liljana Gjonaj's statement in 2015: He left in the morning, he left at 8, he didn't come to me at 5 in the evening, not even at lunch. This was with two people who were in the car last time. The last person she was with is Kristjan Ceni from this village. If those people have taken him hostage, release him. Let them take the gold, we forgive them everything, just bring my son back to his feet and home.
