Prime Minister Edi Rama reacted on Twitter with a response to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, which called Rama's unprovoked statements, his comments made at a forum in Slovenia held two days ago.
Rama's post:
If the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry had nothing more important today than a public statement about something I said at a Bled Strategic Forum panel, I can't help but take it as a huge compliment to the forum and the panel, including myself mine! But seriously, this is undeserved.
Maybe someone should help our friends at the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry with the smooth translation of my statement in Bled about how Bulgaria blocked the opening of accession talks for Albania and North Macedonia when finally everyone else agreed after 8 long years ! I just repeated the same things I said in June.
The reaction of the Bulgarian media:
" Regarding the new, unprovoked, consecutive, anti-Bulgarian statements of the Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama during the Bled Forum on August 29-30 of this year, based on the false statement that Bulgaria blocked for 8 years the start of negotiations for membership of Albania. The MFA rejects irresponsible and inappropriate statements about the behavior of a prime minister of a candidate country for EU membership. The Foreign Ministry has already expressed its position regarding the anti-Bulgarian rhetoric of Edi Rama, which has become a permanent refrain of his political speeches.
It is now combined with an anti-European focus and an attempt to humiliate the mechanisms of the European process. The statements show misunderstandings about the political process to put relations in the region on the European track. It is either a lack of European communication skills or a deliberate incitement of anti-European feelings. Bulgaria reserves the right to react in an appropriate way to the behavior of the Albanian Prime Minister, following the principles of international and European law, "says the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria.
