NATO air base in Kučovo

The airport of Kuçova will now function as a base of the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO).

The US Secretary of State stated yesterday during his visit to Tirana that the works for its reconstruction are nearing the end and the new NATO base in Kuçovo is expected to be inaugurated next month.

The base will not be operational all the time, but will function as a NATO reserve base, mainly logistics.

It is reported that the American "Patriot" defense system has also been installed near it.

The views show fortified areas, a new runway and paved roads that lead to the place between the hills where the "Mig" planes are stored, once the pride of the Albanian Air Force.
