The former president of the Republic of Albania and the chairman of the Freedom Party, Ilir Metaj , has decided to give up his transfer, near the Fier prison.

The reason for withdrawing from the initial request filed in mid-October 2024 with the officials of the General Directorate of Prisons, are the frequent meetings that Meta conducted with the children, family members, his defense lawyer and the officials of the Freedom Party.

Meta's transfer to the prison of Fier would bring more time commitment for the people who meet with Meta every day in the prison premises.

That's why he has appreciated staying in detention facilities No. 313 in Tirana, bringing a time relief for the people who meet with him almost every day in prison.

We remember that initially Meta, while he was in the observation period, asked to be transferred to the prison of Fier, to join the former deputy of the Democratic Party, Ervin Salianji .

But he soon changed his attitude due to the frequent meetings he held with children, family members and co-workers.

Ilir Metaj, was arrested on October 21, 2024 by the Police by order of SPAK, during an action organized in the middle of the day, an operation which left many comments afterwards.

Against Meta, SPAK has filed charges of "Concealment of assets", "Passive corruption of public officials" and "Cleaning of the proceeds of criminal offences".

Currently, Meta has appealed the decision of the first instance that set the security measure of arrest in prison, requesting the softening of this security measure and his release from the cell.
