The preliminary hearing for the "Partizani" affair is postponed again,
Sali Berisha Jamarber Malltezi

Today it was expected to be decided whether former Prime Minister Sali Berisha and Jamarbër Malltezi would go to trial, but the preliminary hearing was postponed again because Malltezi's lawyer was absent.

Judge Davidhi decided that the next hearing will be held on April 11 at 10:00, where she will decide whether or not the file will go to trial, with the defendants being former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, his son-in-law Jamarbër Malltezi and 3 others, businessman Fatmir Bektashi, Malltezi's partner, Xhimi Begeja, and financier Andia Pustina.

Now that the defendants have finished their defense, it is the prosecutors' turn to respond to the lawyers' claims. Then, preliminary hearing judge Flojera Davidhi is expected to decide on April 11 whether to move the case to trial, which would be Berisha and Malltez's real showdown with justice.

The process comes to this point after almost 4 and a half years since the start of the investigations and over 6 months after Sali Berisha, his son-in-law Jamarbër Malltezi and 3 others were named defendants, while the first preliminary hearing took place on October 24.

Berisha and Malltezi continue to be under security measures, the former under “compulsory appearance” and the latter under “house arrest.” The former prime minister is accused of passive corruption and is accused of allowing a whole chain of institutions to break the law by giving the Partizani complex to its former owners, with the main beneficiary being his son-in-law, who is accused of passive corruption and money laundering.
