Journalist Rudina Xhunga, in a telephone connection on the show "Breaking" with Xhoi Malësia on Top News , recounted the last meeting she had with Zamir Dule, the black chronicle journalist who passed away a day ago.
The journalist died in a private hospital in Tirana, where he was admitted after the surgical intervention he underwent. Dule will be laid to rest in his hometown in the village of Miras in Korça, while the bitter news was learned by the family members of the deceased.
"Condolences to the family, I met him in Miras with his mother, I never forget his mother. It was a time of idealists and ambitious people, Zamiri was one of those, he was ambitious and idealistic. There were times that you cannot explain, I was a culture journalist at the time when Zamiri was a chronicler. We were in the same offices, in the same meetings, in the same conversations, at the same tables. I didn't know that Zamir, after everyone went home, he slept in the newsroom, I didn't know this, I only learned it the day I returned to the newsroom, March 4 was the day when I saw my computer burned, one of the many computers of Time.
He was taken to the police, mistreated and abused in a way that will never be known, no one can say what happened that night, but we do know that after that night Zamir completed his mission of to the journalist and returned to himself, all in a moment of fear and terror, after this we react in different ways, someone takes shelter in compromises, someone in depression, apparently this was the fate of Zamir Dules, to take refuge in depression, after animal violence from the power of Berisha.
Zamir had no mental health problems, he was withdrawn. He didn't want to talk to anyone anymore. It was a reaction to the newspaper that the journalists suffered, it is a result of the way the government of that time reacted to the media, repression and violence, many journalists suffered, others compromised, others escaped", said Dzhunga.
In 1994, he came to Tirana where he covered the chronicle sector for the police, the prosecution and the court. He reached the peak of his career in 1996, when he also wrote the book "Monster of Tropoja".
Zamiri retired from the profession after he was barbarically raped by the police of former democratic president Sali Berisha in March 1997. He was accompanied to the police where he was tortured and as a result had mental health problems.
The government of Socialist Prime Minister Fatos Nano granted the journalist Zamir Dule a special pension, as a sign of appreciation for his work under conditions of persecution and especially for his torture by the police.
After leaving journalism, Dule moved to Korçë, where he lived with his brother in his hometown, the village of Miras i Devolli. His health has been steadily deteriorating.
