Prime Minister Edi Rama

The name of Prime Minister Edi Rama also appears in the file called "Black Eagle" where 40 people are accused of international drug trafficking.

For one of the defendants, identified as Arben I, the prosecution requested a sentence of 10 years of imprisonment.

"On April 18, the prosecutor requested a 10-year prison sentence for Arben I., whom she considers to be a mediator between his cousin, Alfredo H., one of the two suspected leaders of the criminal organization, and those of a similar organization, based in Majorca. She also claimed that he acted as an intermediary between Alfredo H. and investors in Albania for the laundering of dirty money, with the support of senior politicians. The name of the Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama is cited in the file," the article says.

Lawyers defending Arben I, accused of laundering large sums of money from cocaine trafficking, believe that the main indicators of guilt presented by the prosecutor come from an Italian case "that led to nothing".

"The accusations against Arben I are based on information coming from foreign files, one Italian, the other Spanish. Regarding the first one, carried out in Italy in cooperation with Germany, and which, among other things, targeted Arben I., "no led to nothing," argued the lawyer. For this reason, he asked the court to apply the principle of non bis in idem, or the fact that it cannot be tried twice for the same facts.

The criminal network, whose leaders are the defendants of Albanian nationality, identified with the initials AH, IK and AI, is suspected of having imported several tons of cocaine, especially through the port of Antwerp.

According to information collected by "RTBF", the drug was hidden as fruit pulp. Also, a barrel of liquid was seized, in which the equivalent of 600 kilograms of cocaine was diluted./Taken from  RTL info .
