"Reuters" writes about Vlora Hyseni: Many officials and businessmen

An Albanian court has suspended the head of the country's secret service and ordered her placed under house arrest, on suspicion of leaking classified information as part of a wider corruption investigation, a special prosecutor's office announced on Tuesday.

Vlora Hyseni, who is originally from Kosovo, has served as the head of the State Intelligence Service (SHISH) since 2023. Previously, she served as the deputy head of the intelligence service in Kosovo.

Prosecutors said Hyseni is suspected of leaking classified information to unauthorized persons in connection with a corruption case at the National Agency for the Information Society (AKSHI), which manages Albania's digital public services and IT infrastructure. The special prosecutor's office, known as SPAK, has long been pursuing the case.

Hysen could not be reached for comment.

Many state officials and businessmen have been arrested or are under investigation for misuse of public funds in the AKSHI.

SPAK, which fights corruption and organized crime, said the measures against Hysen were approved by an anti-corruption court to pave the way for further investigations. (Reuters)
