Prime Minister Edi Rama is holding a meeting with mayors on the performance of local government in function of the Albania 2030 vision in the EU.

He focused on illegal construction, where he also responded to prosecutor Elsa Gjeli, who addressed an official letter to the High Prosecutorial Council (KLP), expressing concern about the situation created and requesting an institutional response.

"As has been publicly announced in a spectacular flagrante case where an entire tourist village was built in the middle of Theth, the prosecution, or rather a prosecutor with the surname Gjeli, has decided not to start investigations. So it has refused to see what is at stake and has written a philosophical essay on the innocence of illegal construction. Meanwhile, illegal construction in Albania is a criminal offense," he said.
