The situation in Gramsh calms down, residents return to their homes

The situation appears calmer this morning in the villages of Gramsh, which have been engulfed in flames for three days.

Lower temperatures, less wind, and the work of hundreds of field teams have made the situation calmer today. There are still active fires in the villages of Skënderbeg and Kodovjat, but they are being monitored by the authorities and efforts are being made to extinguish them.

Residents have already begun to return to their homes, as the roads are open and pose no danger.

Later, the teams will return to the villages to assess the damage and we will have preliminary statistics.

In parallel, work is being done to bury the burnt livestock to avoid any possible epidemic.

We recall that 3 administrative units in Gramsh were engulfed in flames. In Skënderbegas, 7 villages were burned, and the 8th village, Narta, was affected by the fire, but fortunately the authorities managed to save this village.

The fire in Gramsh also marked the first victim in the country, an 80-year-old man who is suspected of being the author of this fire.
