For the first time, the photo of the much-wanted Laert Haxhiu, arrested in Greece and awaiting extradition to Albania, is published.

Haxhiu, born in Lushnja, was arrested in Ioannina by Greek police and had a greek residence permit with him, named Mikis Askalidis, 32, born in Georgia.

The Lushnja District Court in 2017 convicted Laert Haxhiu for the criminal offenses "Murder in qualitative circumstances", remaining in attempt and "Illegal carrying and manufacturing of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition".

Laert Haxhiu was also taken into custody and declared internationally wanted by GJKKO for the 2017 Lushnja massacre, where zamir Latifi and Jurgen Hoxha were killed, but escaped targets, Julio Shkurti, the nephew of Aldo Bare, the head of the Lushnja gang.

Freddy Beleri, the elected mayor of Himara, tried to help him provide documents as Greek minority, Lushnjarin Hadziu, in order to escape extradition, it has been widely reported in the media.
