Kosovo's Foreign Minister, Glauk Konjufca, during the "Diaspora Summit" held today in Tirana, emphasized the need for a new and common approach to preserving the cultural and linguistic identity of Albanians abroad.
According to him, one of the greatest achievements would be sending a significant number of Albanian language teachers to those countries where the Albanian diaspora is most concentrated, who should be funded by Kosovo and Albania.
"The greatest achievement would be if, together with Albania, we sent a large number of teachers who would be financially covered by the Republic of Albania and Kosovo. There would be hundreds of teachers who would maintain the Albanian language in those countries where our diaspora is concentrated.
Until now, this has been voluntary, organized by our diaspora. I consider that the number of our children who attend Albanian schools is small, I don't believe it exceeds 10 percent.
"This should not only be part of the family, but of our countries. We need to raise it to a new level. The second very important dimension is the revitalization of the diaspora, we need to create common umbrellas of associations and organizations," said Minister Glauk Konjufca.
