Tirana Police has reacted with an official announcement regarding the operation launched yesterday evening in Tirana against several Call Centers suspected of computer fraud.

From this operation, which lasted about 2 years, according to the police report, 7 measures of arrest with imprisonment, two other measures, detention abroad and an obligation to appear have been imposed.

890 thousand euros, electronic equipment, 443 computers, 238 mobile phones and 6 laptops were seized. This police operation was led by the Director of Cyber ??Crime Ervina Gjana and the Prosecutor's Office Rovena Zoto.

Police announcement:

The Cybercrime Investigation Directorate of the State Police, in cooperation with the Austrian authorities and with the support of Europol, under the direction of the Tirana Prosecutor's Office, successfully finalized the police operation codenamed "Ghost Call", as part of the crackdown on the criminal offense of "Computer Fraud".

This operation is the result of an in-depth investigation by cybercrime investigation structures, which has lasted for about 2 years. The investigation began on the initiative of cybercrime structures, following a request for information from Austrian authorities, leading to the discovery and documentation of this criminal activity.

The Tirana Court decided to allow the search of the premises where the subjects carried out their activities, as well as the search of the homes of 9 suspected citizens.

During the intervention in the premises of these entities, various operators were found carrying out illegal activities, which enabled the immediate documentation of the criminal activity.

Following the procedural actions, at the request of the Tirana Prosecutor's Office, the following security measures were imposed:
• “Arrest with imprisonment” for 7 citizens, specifically for citizens ED I, born on 24.10.1978; MH, born on 14.07.2002; TA, born on 19.06.2003; LT, born on 28.08.1993 and Xh.M., born on 05.12.1997, for whom the arrest measures were executed. Meanwhile, for citizens Xh. H., born on 10.06.1995 and ML, born on 04.12.1997, a wanted notice was issued.
• “Prohibition on leaving the country” and “Obligation to report to the judicial police” for 2 citizens, where the measure was executed for citizen AV, date of birth 29.12.1993.

Also, during the operation, the following citizens were arrested in flagrante delicto, while engaging in illegal activity:

* KB, born 06.04.1988;
* EH, born 17.11.2000;
* BB, born 02.10.2001;
* KD, born 15.12.2001;
* ET, born 04.08.1994.

A wanted notice was also issued for citizen DJ, born on 02.08.2002.

The investigative actions resulted in these citizens being identified as influential individuals in the structure of criminal activity, in the role of team leaders.

The execution of the decisions was carried out by State Police officers, in cooperation with the Tirana Prosecutor's Office, as well as in full coordination with investigators from the Austrian authorities and Europol experts, who participated during the operation.

During the checks, considerable monetary values ??were found and seized, totaling 891,735 euros, as well as a large number of electronic devices, specifically:
* 443 computers;
* 238 mobile phones;
* 6 laptops;
as well as other devices such as HDD, DVR, etc., which are suspected of being used to commit criminal activity.

The seized materials will be subjected to further examinations, while investigations continue to fully document this criminal activity and identify other persons involved.

The State Police remains maximally engaged in the fight against cybercrime.

It should also be noted that this is the first time that 4 premises have been targeted at the same time for illegal activities aimed at online fraud of foreign citizens. The police operation was led by the Director of Cyber ??Crime Ervina Gjana and the Prosecutor's Office Rovena Zoto.
