Greek police discover 300 kg of cannabis inside recyclable materials, coming from Albania. Two people arrested

A criminal organization that extended its activity from Albania through Greece to Turkey has been hit following a large-scale police operation carried out on Friday morning in Thessaloniki. As a result of the intervention, two people, aged 58 and 43, have been arrested, while a third person is wanted.

According to Greek police investigations , the criminal group had a well-organized structure and professional infrastructure. To transport the significant quantities of raw cannabis from Albania to Turkey, the members used international transport trucks.

To avoid controls and legalize movements, the drugs were hidden in specially designed locations within legitimate shipments of recycling paper.

During the operation in a closed area in Thessaloniki, the two suspects were caught red-handed while in possession of 8 pallets of recycled paper.

Inside these shipments, packages of raw cannabis were discovered, with a total weight of 324 kilograms and 474 grams.

Authorities estimate that the profit the group intended to secure from this shipment reached 700,000 euros.

The arrested have been sent to the competent prosecution body for further legal measures, while investigations continue to discover and capture other collaborators in Albania and Turkey.
